Association of Early Childhood Educators NL (AECENL)

June 29, 2023

The Association for Early Childhood Educators in Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL) is a professional organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting early childhood education in Newfoundland and Labrador. AECENL is run by a volunteer board of directors and serves as a collective voice for early childhood educators and advocates for high-quality early learning experiences for children.

One of the primary objectives of AECENL is to enhance the professional status of early childhood educators. The association works towards this goal by providing its members with opportunities for professional development, networking, and sharing best practices. AECENL organises workshops, conferences, and training sessions that focus on various aspects of early childhood education, including curriculum development, pedagogical approaches, and child development.

AECENL also plays a crucial role in advocating for the rights and well-being of early childhood educators. The association works with policymakers, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that early childhood educators are recognized as professionals and that their expertise is valued and respected. AECENL actively engages in discussions and initiatives related to early childhood education policies, standards, and regulations.

When the Child Care Services Act introduced the certification system, designed to promote professionalism, uphold standards, and support the optimal development of children in early learning environments, AECENL took responsibility for implementing and maintaining the service. The certification system is a cornerstone to the recognition of early childhood educators as professionals.

Furthermore, AECENL endeavours to foster a sense of community among early childhood educators in Newfoundland and Labrador. The association provides a platform for educators to connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas. Members of AECENL have access to a network of professionals who are passionate about early childhood education, which can be invaluable for professional growth and support.

Overall, the Association for Early Childhood Educators in Newfoundland and Labrador is dedicated to elevating the field of early childhood education. By advocating for the professional rights and development of early childhood educators, AECENL strives to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for young children and promote their optimal learning and development.
